Our Favorite Trails
Israel is full of hidden gems but its most famous trails are not to be missed:
The Israel National Trail
Shvil Yisrael -The Israel National Trail - extends 680 miles, or 1,100 km, from the Lebanese border in the north to Eilat in the south. It winds through mountains, beaches, deserts, and forests, passing through agricultural communities and city streets. It takes approximately two months to complete the entire trail but many Israelis hike it a bit at a time, getting to know the country over a lifetime of hikes.
Sea to Sea Trail
Go from the Mediterranean to the Sea of Galilee on foot in only four days on Yam Le Yam- the 44-mile, or 71 km, Sea to Sea Trail. This northern adventure includes crusader ruins, natural springs, and breathtaking views across the Galilean hills. For Israeli youth groups, completing Yam Le Yam is a favorite rite of passage.
The Golan Trail
Shvil HaGolan – The Golan Trail – runs 75 miles, or 125 km, from north to south, beginning at Mount Hermon, Israel’s highest mountain, and ending south-east of the Sea of Galilee. Whether you do the whole thing in one week-long run or spend a day or two on the highlights, the lush scenery of the Golan makes this a trail you don’t want to miss.
